Radiant infrared heat (IRRH) is a form of radiation that the outer surface of objects, including the human skin. Heat is generated if the infrared energy with cooperates and penetrates the surface of the skin.
The depth of penetration is estimated to be 2-3 inches. The response is incapable of reacting exothermically IRRH. the release of heat, is considered to be therapeutic, localized by some health experts.
A number of companies sell today saunas equipped with infrared radiant heat (infra-red saunas). they claim that on 2-3 inches deep, that the release of the heat is in many ways to be favourable. For example, usually chronic wounds.
How?Nobody knows for sure, but probably the related to the improvement of the blood flow and oxygenation of the wound.I have no problem with the theory behind the IRRH and the healing of chronic wounds.
But what about weight loss? infrared heat can significant weight loss? what's even more important, this may result in Healthy Weight Loss? the owners of the companies selling infrared saunas seem to think.
The question is can infrared saunas to Healthy Weight Loss?
Infrared Radiant Heat saunas (infrared saunas)
In contrast to older steel counterparts, infrared saunas are ceramic coating and tend to make it more efficient, produce the same amount of heat in a shorter time period compared with the steel-based saunas.
According to the proponents of infrared saunas translates these efficiency in slow shutter speeds, up-regulation of thermoregulatory system of your body, and weight loss.
A local newspaper Dallas printed an ad for an infrared sauna, who stated, "perspiring is part of the complex of the body that thermoregulatory heart rate, cardiac output and increases metabolic rate. The process requires a great deal of energy and reduces excess moisture, salt and subcutaneous fat. fat is water soluble at 110 degrees (F) leads to fat loss. "--Dallas Voice, 12 February 2005
There is no doubt that we are apart of the ad and ask her to be valid. But, I've decided to keep things simple and focus on one aspect of the infra-red weight loss ... the thermoregulatory process.
According to the announcement, infrared heat penetrates deeply in tissue and up-regulates the thermoregulatory process. This is a regulation up enough to cause significant healthy to lose weight?
For our purposes, is defined as healthy weight loss fat loss. Please bear in mind, a healthy diet program promotes weight loss in short steps, never more than 2 pounds a week. The decrease of the weight of a loss of fat and nothing else. weight loss in any other way not healthy and should not be considered an option for losing weight.
The Thermoregulatory process
This is a very complex topic. many factors are involved in your body temperature constant. In the human brain regulates the hypothalamus the whole thermoregulatory process with the exception of the first responses to high temperature.Sweating, rapid breathing, and increased blood flow to the arms and legs are examples of the early comments not regulated by the central nervous system.
The question is can these mechanisms cause weight loss by fat "fires".Cedric Bryant, chief exercise physiologist for the American Council on exercise, says no.
"The amount that you sweat is an indication of the ability of your body to the normal body temperature. you sweat when your body starts to store heat, so you can enjoy cooling by evaporation that sweat. so that it is not the number of calories or energy, correlate. you're not going to use stored fat simply by increasing the body temperature ... it won't happen."
It is also useful. keeps track of your body to store fat for future emergencies and the will not give the fat very easily. you are well protected against hunger.
Joe King, editor of the journal of Hyperplasia Research said, "Evaporative accounts for the increase in the total oxygen intake, making the working muscles use more glycogen."Glycogen is stored form of glucose, the main source of energy for your body.
In short, infrared saunas does not lead to weight loss through the use of fat. instead, the high temperatures lead to Glycolysis (with sugars for immediate energy needs) and the water loss accounts for the decrease of the weight. What does this all mean? Infrared saunas to promote unhealthy weight loss.
This reminds me of what a representative told me a month or so ago about infrared saunas. He said: "the heart will receive a training that is similar to a 6 mile walk in an infrared sauna."He may have been right, but it's not that you lose fat.
Conclusion
An infrared sauna not is a good option for losing weight.
